Eric Kiesau Departs Cal, Takes Washington Offensive Coordinator Spot

The California Golden Bears are hurting from one big defection to the Washington Huskies. Another coaching change could very well cause further damage.

Eric Kiesau (who was the passing game coordinator and receivers coach for UW) did a great job helping to develop Keenan Allen and Marvin Jones into two of the best receivers on the West Coast in his year back at Cal. Steve Sarkisian and the Washington Huskies took notice, and they were prepared to make an offer Kiesau couldn't refuse. Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times with the report has Kiesau earning as much as $700k annually, making him one of the highest paid coordinators in the conference.

Kiesau is a talented coach should be able to make the most of what he's got in Seattle, and could pair up well with Sarkisian to help call plays. But this could be a big blow to Cal's recruiting class (particularly at the wide receiver position) if they're not able to keep them together.
