Cal vs. Washington Score: Bears Cut Huskies Lead To 21-20 At Halftime

The California Golden Bears looked like they were in big trouble when the defense was gashed on their third straight drive. Keith Price has found his receivers all game long, and hooked up with Jermaine Kearse, Kevin Smith and Jams Johnson to drive Washington into Cal territory, setting up the second touchdown connection between Price and freshman tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins to put Washington up 21-10. Price is 12 for 16 for 179 yards with two touchdowns.

But the Cal offense was equally capable of moving right on Washington's defense. Marvin Jones made two incredible grabs down the sideline on slightly off-target throws by Zach Maynard. Maynard also found Keenan Allen on a crucial third down conversion, but did miss him in the end zone again when he underthrew him on what looked like a fade route. Giorgio Tavecchio nailed his second field goal to cut the lead to 21-13.

Cecil Whiteside then made a HUGE defensive play by stripping Price on the next Husky offensive play. Maynard then found his brother on a post route on a crucial 4th down conversion, then found Covaughn Deboskie-Johnson down the sideline to set up a C.J. Anderson hammering short yardage run on 3rd and goal to make it Washington 21, Cal 20.

Washington took advantage of a kickoff out-of-bounds to drive the ball into field goal range, but Nick Folk's field goal attempt was just a yard or two short. Cal will get the ball to start the second half.
