Cal vs. Washington Score: UW Up 14-10; Zach Maynard Hooks Up With Keenan Allen For 90 Yard TD

After the California Golden Bears stopped the Washington Huskies on the first drive of the game, Cal kicked off the scoring in a big way. Dominic Galas missed a snap on 1st and 10 and forced Zach Maynard to fall on it deep for a huge loss. On 3rd and 20 though, Maynard found his brother wide receiver Keenan Allen pretty much alone deep in the secondary. Allen then scorched it the rest of the way to the end zone, juking out cornerback Desmond Trufant, getting to the outside, and scoring. The 90 yard touchdown catch is the longest in Cal football history.

But Washington came right back. Cecil Whiteside and Chris McCain showed their youth when they missed on their pass rush assignments, allowing Keith Price to keep the play alive and find Devin Aguilar for 44 yards and Austin Seferian-Jenkins for a 20 yard score. After the Bears went three-and-out, Washington drove back the field and used the hard running of Polk and the scrambling of Price (plus got help from three Cal penalties) to punch it in on a Polk toss run to the outside.

Cal drove right back down the field, as Maynard hooked up with Marvin Jones twice thanks to some great adjustments by the Cal wide receiver. Isi Sofele picked up some big yards on the ground and helped drive Cal deep into Washington territory. The drive stalled in the red zone after Washington stuffed the Cal rush attack and Maynard and Allen weren't on the same page on the 3rd down play. A Giorgio Tavecchio field goal cut the Washington lead to 14-10.
