Cal Football Recruiting Target: Jordan Payton, WR, USC Trojans Decommit

The California Golden Bears football team is recruiting heavily for wide receivers this year; with Marvin Jones, Michael Calvin and Coleman Edmond all graduating, the Bears need pass-catchers in a bad way to replenish the coffers this year. Cal is expected to take around three to four wide receivers with this class, and they are aiming high.

One potential player is Oaks Christian star Jordan Payton, perhaps the best wide receiver in all of California in the 2012 recruiting class. Measuring up at 6'2", 200 pounds, Payton has the height to leap for jump balls and good looking moves.

Payton has been a USC Trojans commit since as early as March 2010, but he decommitted this past week ($) and seems to be exploring all his options. Cal has been considered a strong contender for Payton's services, and his relationship with fellow wide receiver and potential Cal lean Bryce Treggs could also play a huge factor in where he decides to go.

Payton also has schools like ASU, Florida, Michigan and Oklahoma listed in his top 5, but the Bears have to like where they stand with the receiver.
