Jeff Lockie, Oregon Ducks Quarterback Commit From Monte Vista

The Oregon Ducks already have one local prospect from Northern California in Jake Rodrigues (Whitney High in Rocklin, California), and last week they added another. They're not only two prospects, but they also happen to be two quarterbacks.

Jeff Lockie plays for Monte Vista High in Danville, CA.  He runs a spread offense that closely matches the offense the Ducks run. He has a quick release and fast feet, and thus could be another strong runner for Chip Kelly and the Oregon fast-paced attack. His highlights do display the type of characteristics that you'd like to see in a Ducks quarterback, particularly as someone who can make quick decisions.

Rodrigues is considered the better of the two quarterbacks, as Lockie's ratings (5.6 from Rivals, 71 from ESPN, 2 from Scout) aren't anything impressive. In college football though, you always want to have as many capable QBs as possible, and Lockie provides a nice second option.
