Fullback/middle linebacker Patrick Skov has submitted his national letter of intent and will join the Stanford Cardinal football team in 2011. The Lawrenceville, New Jersey senior is ranked by Scout.com as the number five fullback in the country. Stanford is losing Owen Marecic and will be looking for a replacement for the all-world full back.
Skov is listed as both a fullback and linebacker, but it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll follow in the foot steps of Marecic who played both sides of the ball. One person Skov will be following is his older brother Shayne, who is currently a linebacker for the Cardinal.
Skov is the 19th player to sign a national letter of intent for the 2011 season. Skov’s senior season included 153 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, nine sacks and eight forced fumbles as a linebacker. As a fullback, he carried the ball 93 times for 657 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had 27 catches for 296 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Scout.com verified (linked above) that he did “25 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press in the offseason with a max bench press of 405 pounds, a max squat of 405 pounds and boasts a 31-inch vertical leap.”
We’ve got some video of Skov below, and make sure to check out Rule of Tree for more info on the Cardinal recruiting class.
