Starting at 7:00am pacific time players in the Western time zone could begin faxing in their national letters of intent. Accordingly Cal and Stanford have begun announcing those recruits after spending the first few hours of 2011 National Signing Day announcing East Coast and Central Time recruits.
Cal announced the additions of DB Stefan McClure, LB Jason Gibson, OL Jordan Rigsbee, and DL Mustafa Jalil. Gibson is currently ranked 131st overall by ESPNU and number six among outside linebackers. His signing continues to make this year’s recruiting class quite solid. There have been some question marks among some of Coach Tedford’s recruits in recent years but he’s putting together a solid class in 2011 as Cal looks to rebound from a poor 2010 season.
Down in Palo Alto, Stanford has had several California recruits begin sending in their letters of intent. They’ve announced via twitter the additions of QB Evan Crower, CB Ra’Chard Pippens, DE Kevin Anderson, CB Jordan Richards, Colorado All-American OT Brendon Austin, and Washington All-American DE Charlie Hopkins.
