2011 National Signing Day: Cal Reportedly Adds Puka Lopa

The folks at California Golden Blogs have posted that on the verge of National Signing Day 2011, the California Golden Bears have reportedly added Puka Lopa. The defensive end from Grant High School in Sacramento is teammates with top recruit Viliami Moala and once Moala decided on Cal, it made the decision easier for Lopa. He will reportedly announce his choice tomorrow at his high school.

The Sacramento Bee is reporting that Lopa may very well switch from his current defensive end position over to linebacker. Lopa finished the 2010 with 21 sacks and 128 tackles, and was co-defensive player of the year for the Bee with Moala. The addition of these two monster defensive linemen along with Todd Barr (44th by ESPNU) means the Cal defensive front will be looking good over the long haul. Considering the loss of Cameron Jordan, it’s safe to say this is a strong effort to patch up the loss.
