The California Golden Bears had to put up a lot of points to beat the Arizona St. Sun Devils. But they were up to the task in their season finale, winning 47-38.
Zach Maynard managed the game en route to another solid performance in November, completing 72% of his passes for 232 yards. Maynard made perhaps the play of the game when he found C.J. Anderson for a 72 yard scamper to put Cal up ten and help the Bears hang on. Maynard also rushed for a touchdown.
Isi Sofele led the efforts on the ground with 143 rushing yards and a touchdown. Anderson had 48 yards on the ground plus his 74 yard catch to put up three touchdowns of his own. Keenan Allen had four catches for 52 yards, Marvin Jones six catches for 58 yards.
The Cal defense had their own troubles stopping ASU, giving up 38 points in the first three quarters. But the Golden Bears stiffened in the fourth quarter, forcing two big turnovers that set up game-clinching Giorgio Tavecchio field goals.
The Bears improve to 7-5 on the season, and now will wait to find out which bowl they'll be playing in come December.
