The quest to land perhaps the most athletic West Coast big man in the 2013 class goes on, and the list has grown a bit. Some new names have entered the picture from the last time Aaron Gordon actively discussed his list, and there are new faces making their presence felt for the Archbishop Mitty star from San Jose.
Hoopniks managed to catch up with Gordon and obtain these quotes.
On the recruiting front, Gordon appears to be focusing on the left coast. He named Arizona, Washington, Stanford and Oregon, as well as Kansas as the top competitors for his college services at this time. With a sister and brother (Drew – UCLA/New Mexico) that have played basketball at the collegiate level, Gordon noted that he and his family are comfortable with the recruiting process, and savvy enough to weed out dishonest influences.
Stanford and Oregon both entering the picture are intriguing. Both programs appear to be on the rise in terms of overall talent, and should each have a great shot at competing for the top spot in the conference.
Interestingly, Gordon no longer lists New Mexico, despite the fact that his brother Drew is a member of the team. Perhaps Gordon feels that he'd be better off in a major conference program rather than having to compete for attention in a midmajor program.
Still, it looks like Washington and Arizona are the favorites so far, as they've been the names that have been in it for Gordon since the start.
Oh yeah, here's video of 15 year old Gordon dunking on life this summer.
