Sunday NFL Playoff Schedule, Seahawks vs. Bears: Cal, Stanford Participants

The 2011 NFC playoffs continue at 10:00am pacific as the Seattle Seahawks travel to face to the Chicago Bears on FOX. If the Seahawks can pull off the upset they would host the NFC title game against the Green Bay Packers. I'd imagine the NFL would just love seeing a 7-9 team hosting the conference championship. Today's morning game features quite a few Bay Area participants. Head after the jump to view why you should be rooting for the Seahawks today (even if you're a 49ers fan!)

Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks lead all time in Bay Area representation as they feature five Cal players and a Stanford player. The Seahawks Cal contingent includes Marshawn Lynch, Justin Forsett, Mike Gibson, Brandon Mebane, and Cameron Morrah. The Seahawks also have backup defensive tackle Amon Gordon from Stanford.

Chicago Bears
The Bears have a much smaller contingent of Bay Area athletes as they include only backup wide receiver Rashied Davis from San Jose State.

It's safe to say that if you're looking for a reason to root for one of the two teams in this morning's contest, the Seahawks are your team. The easy reason comes from former Cal star Marshawn Lynch who absolutely blew up the New Orleans Saints with a monster run. As a 49ers fan it's tough to root for the Seahawks, but Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears certainly make it a little bit easier to root for the fighting Pete Carrolls.
