Cal Edges Iowa State In Lone Road Game In Non-Conference Play

Ames, IA (Sports Network) – Harper Kamp scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out five assists, leading the California Golden Bears to a 76-73 win over the Iowa State Cyclones as part of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series at Hilton Coliseum.

Markhuri Sanders-Frison added 12 points and six rebounds for California (5-2), while Jorge Gutierrez and Allen Crabbe chipped in with 11 points apiece.

ISU (6-2) was paced by Scott Christopherson, who scored a game-high 25 points in a losing effort. Jake Anderson added 16 points, nine rebounds and six steals for the Cyclones, while Diante Garrett contributed 11 points and six assists.

Both teams shot 46 percent from the floor in the first half, though it was ISU clinging to a 39-38 lead at the break.

The Golden Bears responded in the second stanza, shooting 50 percent from the floor and knocking down 11-of-14 free throws en route to the three-point victory.

The California bench proved to be a key factor in this contest, outscoring the Cyclones’ reserves 20-10 for the game.
