USC 14 - Cal 0: Kevin Riley, Golden Bears Caught Snoozing In First Quarter

The California Golden Bears traveled down to the LA Coliseum to face the USC Trojans hoping to build on last week's big win over the UCLA Bruins. Through one quarter, the Trojans have dominated in all phases of the game in taking a 14-0 lead.

The Bears have struggled across the board and it was fitting that the first quarter closed with a shanked punt setting up USC on the Cal 41. Kevin Riley has yet to complete a pass as his one apparent completion was called back after a USC challenge. Shane Vereen six yards on four carries and Cal has yet to convert a first down.

On the other side of the field, USC has dominated. On defense they've sacked Kevin Riley a couple times and contained a normally potent Cal rushing attack. On offense, Matt Barkley was 8 of 11 for 81 yards and two touchdowns, both of which were impressive grabs by Robert Woods and David Ausberry.

As Cal looks to settle down and stop the bleeding (said as they just gave up a rushing touchdown to fall behind 21-0), enjoy the discussion over at California Golden Blogs.
