Sonny Dykes has made two hires to add onto his coaching staff. Not surprisingly, they're both coming from the offensive side of the football.
Dykes is bringing on Tony Franklin to serve as his offensive coordinator at Cal. Franklin was Dykes's offensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech, and he's also helped power offenses at schools like Middle Tennessee State, Troy, and at Kentucky to satisfactory records. Franklin struggled at Auburn due to some difficulty getting the coaching staff to adapt his schemes, but otherwise things have been pretty clean. Dykes and Franklin combined to put together the top offense in college football this past season, and they will look to replicate their magic in
Dykes also will be bringing on Rob Likens as the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach. Likens has been coaching at the lower levels for nearly 20 years and has performed well at North Alabama, Temple, Southeast Missouri State, Central Connecticut State and Louisiana Tech.
