The California Golden Bears have apparently laid off all the remaining assistant coaching staff that were left from the Jeff Tedford era. Here is the list of coaches that will be let go.
Running back coach Ron Gould is the most prominent name. Gould is one of the most successful assistants in college football history, who at one time turned out six NFL-caliber running backs in a row. That included runners like Shane Vereen, Jahvid Best, Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett. Gould has been at Cal for over 16 years and is well-regarded as one of the top running back coaches in the country.
Offensive line coach Jim Michalczik is also being let go; he has been with the Bears for two stints under Tedford. Michalczik helped develop NFL products like Ryan O'Callaghan, Marvin Philip, Alex Mack, Brian De La Puente, and Mitchell Schwartz.
Wide receivers coach Wes Chandler, secondary coach Ashley Ambrose, and quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo are all on their way out.
