To close out a disappointing season, Cal travels to Corvalis to take on an Oregon State team looking for a BCS bowl berth. The 3-8 Golden Bears will try to play spoiler to the 7-2 Beavers, who are looking to keep pace as the third best team in the Pac-12.
The Bears are coming off four straight conference losses, having last won at Washington St. on October 13. Last Saturday's 59-17 pantsing at the hands of undefeated Oregon is not how Cal wants to end their season. Standout wide receiver Keenan Allen remains a question mark, but his return could spark the Bears' offense and give quarterback Zach Maynard a boost.
The Beavers are too coming off a crushing loss, a 27-24 defeat to Stanford that relegated them to third place in the Pac-12 behind the Cardinal and Oregon. But with a win this week and a chance to play undefeated Oregon next week, the Beavers could make national noise and represent the Pac-12 in a BCS bowl.
Cal looking to derail Oregon State brings up memories of the 2007 season, when an unranked Beaver team quashed the Golden Bears' national title hopes with an upset in Berkeley.
Game time/TV schedule: 7:30 p.m., Pac-12 Network
