Cal vs. Utah betting lines & odds: Bears 1-1/2 point underdogs

California is back on the road this week and the Bears opened as a 1-1/2 point underdog against Utah.

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

For the fifth time in their last six games, the California Bears opened as an underdog. Cal will go on the road to face Utah, with the Utes opening as a 1-1/2 point favorite.

Both teams have had disappointing seasons thus far, but Utah opened as the slight favorite in large part because they are playing at home. California is 1-2 on the road this season while Utah is 2-1 at home. The Utes have been an excellent home team recently, winning 20 of their last 25 home games. They are also coming off a bye week and should be well rested.

The total for Saturday's game opened at 45, a number which is likely to go under if recent trends hold true. The total has gone under in four of Cal's last five games and four of Utah's last six contests. While California hold the advantage in many of the statistical offensive categories, Utah leads in many defensive categories.

While Utah has four straight games, the Bears have started to go in the opposite direction, winning two of their last three.
