According to a tweet from Greg Biggins of Scout.com, L.A. Cathedral wide receiver Torry McTyer has committed to the California Golden Bears.

McTyer told ESPN.com's Erik McKinney that "he pretty much said that I'm a good athlete and he can see me in the program," referring to a phone call with Cal run-game coordinator and associate head coach Ron Gould on Sept. 30.

It took McTyer 11 days to make his decision, but he committed to Cal. Arizona State and Oregon State were also interested, but McTyer was able to see Cal's game against UCLA during an unofficial visit. It apparently sealed the deal.

McTyer has taken a strong offseason -- that included visiting a 7-on-7 camp on Cal's campus -- and turned it into a strong start to his senior year, as he already has 18 receptions for 378 yards and nine touchdowns.

Cal was McTyer's first scholarship offer, and it turned out to be the only one the 6'1, 170-pound receiver needed.
