Pagan has secured the longest, most lucrative deal of his career -- a four-year, $40 million pact with the Giants.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Angel Pagan received the best security of his seven-year career when his new four-year, $40 million contract with the franchise was enacted upon passing a physical on Friday.

Before Friday, Pagan had never signed a contract for longer than two years or for more than $5 million per year. After just one season with San Francisco, in which the Giants won the World Series, Pagan is looking forward to settling in the Bay Area. "The Giants were my number one priority," Pagan said of his offseason free agency.

In 154 regular-season games with the Giants, Pagan hit .288 with eight home runs and 56 RBI. The center fielder stole 29 bases on the year, and hit .188 with six RBI in the postseason. Pagan didn't wait to sign with his first priority:

The Giants were the first ones to offer that fourth year, like I was hoping. Right after they did it, I didn't hesitate. I wasn't waiting for another team. -Angel Pagan

In seven seasons, Pagan has hit .281, totaling 41 home runs and 265 RBI.

The 49ers running back expressed frustration over playing time on Saturday.

San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs has 1,083 career carries. Only five of them have come this season, and Jacobs isn't afraid to voice his frustration over that, tweeting on Saturday that "I wanna do what I am paid to do."

In mid-November, Jacobs tweeted "Never work in a place where you hate your boss so much, you should always be happy at work." After the Internet pegged this as a shot at his coach Jim Harbaugh, he later clarified, claiming it was about his brother's work situation.

Saturday, however, his tweet was much more direct, and he took a shot at critical fans in the process:

I don't understand why people are angry at me because I wanna do what I am paid to do, I am a competitive person, I think people should be mad if I didn't wanna play, but I forgot the people that's pissed they don't have a athletic bone and their body. -Brandon Jacobs

The Louisiana native, who won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants, previously upset fans after posting pictures of him celebrating last year's championship victory. Jacobs told fans Saturday he would post pictures of him as a 49er on Instagram, but "I don't have any niner pics."

The Cardinal is two quarters away from winning the Pac-12 North division.

At halftime in the Rose Bowl, the Stanford Cardinal lead the UCLA Bruins, 21-10, on Saturday night in Pasadena.

Cardinal running back Stepfan Taylor hit the 100-yard mark on the head by halftime, rushing 16 times for a 6.3 yards-per-carry average. Taylor broke the game open with a 49-yard touchdown scamper to give Stanford a 21-7 lead in the second quarter.

Kevin Hogan is 11-16 for 115 yards and one touchdown through the air. That came less than five minutes into the contest when Hogan hit Drew Terrell for an 11-yard score. Tight end Zach Ertz remains the go-to target through the air, pulling in three catches for 52 yards in the half.

UCLA did make a big play late in the half by blocking its sixth kick in the last two games on a Stanford punt. But the Bruins moved backwards eight yards on their series and had to settle for a 48-yard field goal from Ka'imi Fairbairn.

If the result holds, the two teams will play again in the Pac-12 championship game.

Up to five teams have expressed interest in the Giants outfielder, according to the New York Post.

The San Francisco Giants completed a 4-0 sweep of the Detroit Tigers in the World Series without the services of outfielder Melky Cabrera, who was suspended for 50 games on Aug. 15 after a positive high-testosterone test. Despite that violation, Cabrera is reportedly drawing offseason interest from "at least five teams," according to the New York Post.

In 113 games in 2012, the free agent Cabrera hit .346 with 11 home runs and 60 RBI. Two of the teams reported to be courting the 28 year old are the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets, though the New York Post report says neither the Yankees nor the Mets have expressed interest.

Cabrera was reinstated after his 50-game ban on Oct. 13, but the Giants did not include him on the playoff roster. Over his eight-year career with four teams, the left-handed hitter has a .284 batting average with 69 home runs and 417 RBI.

The game will air at 1:05 p.m. PT on FOX.

The minimum requirement is that the team must sell 85% of its non-premium seats in order for the game to not be blacked out on local television. This marks the 12th straight game in which local Raiders fans have been able to enjoy its team's games being broadcast.

The San Jose State Spartans lead the Idaho Vandals, 28-13, after three quarters of play at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Id.

The Spartans extended their 14-10 halftime lead on a pair of quick-hitting scoring drives. The first came on a five-play, 75-yard drive that took just 1:27 off the clock, as quarterback David Fales completed three passes for 62 yards. The score came when Fales hit Noel Grigsby on a 15-yard touchdown pass.

Less than a minute before the quarter ended, the Spartans completed a 2:16 drive when Chandler Jones hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from Fales. Through three quarters, Fales is 22-33 for 273 yards and three touchdowns. Both Grigsby and Jabari Carr have 82 receiving yards and one touchdown reception to lead San Jose State receivers.

The California Golden Bears trail the Utah Utes, 14-3, after one quarter of play in Salt Lake City on Saturday night.

With yards scarce, the difference in the game has been in defense and special teams, especially for Utah. Utes wide receiver Reggie Dunn returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, patiently weaving through traffic before bursting down the field for a 7-3 lead.

Then late in the quarter, Cal quarterback Zach Maynard hit Chris Harper on a short dump-off pass, but Harper was stripped and Utah's Reggie Topps returned the fumble 17 yards for a touchdown.

The Bears opened the game well, driving 43 yards on a balanced mix of three runs and three passes, but had to settle for a 49-yard field goal from Vincenzo D'Amato.

Neither team had reached 50 yards of total offense until late in the first quarter when Maynard connected with tight end Richard Rodgers for a 51-yard pass down the sideline. That play set up Cal in Utah's red zone when the quarter ended.

Maynard is 4-7 for 69 yards, while Isi Sofele leads the Bears in rushing with 34 yards on seven carries.

The No. 17 Stanford Cardinal survived a scare from the Washington State Cougars, taking a 24-17 victory on a defensive touchdown.

Up 17-10 in the fourth quarter, the Cardinal got the cushion they needed when safety Ed Reynolds stepped in front of a Jeff Tuel pass and returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown and a 24-10 lead.

Washington State staged a comeback, however, first when Tuel capped a 12-play, 75-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kristoff Williams. The Cougars got the ball one final time, and drove all the way to the Stanford 9-yard line with under a minute to play.

The game-tying drive ended when Tuel was forced into an intentional grounding (which comes with a ten-second runoff), then sacked. Washington State had no timeouts, and time expired.

The defensive score was huge for Stanford and its struggling offense. Washington State outgained the Cardinal, 385-256.

Box Score Hero: Wide receiver Jamal-Rashad Patterson, Stanford. Patterson caught only one pass for the Cardinal, but it was for a 70-yard touchdown. The big play helped the limping Stanford offense do just enough for the win.

Rankings Ramifications: While the win was underwhelming, three teams directly ahead of Stanford lost, so the Cardinal may move up a slot or two anyway.
