Currently in the second American League wild card spot, the Oakland Athletics will face the Seattle Mariners on Saturday evening. The A's are holding onto that second wild card spot by two games over the Los Angeles Angels.
Saturday's matchup is the second of the series between Oakland and Seattle. The A's won Friday's series-opening game, 8-2, behind home runs from Coco Crisp and Stephen Drew.
Dan Straily takes the mound for Oakland, going against Jason Vargas for Seattle. Straily enters the game with a 2-1 record and a 3.60 ERA, but the A's have lost his last two outings. Vargas is 14-11 on the season with a 3.94 ERA in 2012.
The A's are looking to gain gain ground on the Texas Rangers, who lead the AL West by three games, before the two face-off in the final series of the season starting on Monday.
