The Oakland Athletics released their 25-man roster before their AL Division Series matchup against the Detroit Tigers.

The Oakland Athletics have released their 25-man roster before the start of their AL Division Series matchup against the Detroit Tigers.

Oakland manager Bob Melvin decided to go with 13 position players and 12 pitchers for this round of the playoffs, with right-handed relief pitcher Jim Miller looking like the odd man out.

In an inspirational move, Melvin named Pat Neshek to the roster, just days after the sudden loss of his son Gehrig. According to Amy Lee of MLB.com, Neshek was urged to join the team by his wife Stephanee, who is also making the trip to Detroit.
