The Oakland Athletics took over the baseball world this past week, as they rallied from five games back with nine to play to overtake the Rangers in the American League West. As the team and its fans continue to celebrate the improbable comeback, the A's know there is still plenty of work left to be done in October. Oakland will face Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series.
As for which way the baseball experts believe this best-of-five series will go, four of the six writers at CBS Sports project the A's to advance. Of those four, three believe the A's will also win the ALCS and play in the World Series. Matt Snyder has Oakland becoming world champions at the end of October.
As for the series itself, Game 1 is scheduled to begin Saturday night in Detroit. It'll be Jarrod Parker against Justin Verlander on the mound. First pitch is set for 3:07 p.m. PT.
