The San Francisco 49ers spent the last week at Youngstown State University in Ohio as they prepared for their Week 4 matchup with the New York Jets. Following a sloppy loss to the Vikings last weekend, the coaching staff decided to keep their team on the east coast instead of returning home to San Francisco to limit the amount of travel.
Following another day of practice on Friday, Alex Smith, Frank Gore and the rest of the 49ers have made their way to New York. According to head coach Jim Harbaugh, the trip could not have gone any better. Here is Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area with the latest from Harbaugh.
"Very good, and very similar," 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said of the week in Ohio, comparing it to last year's trip. "We have a lot of people to thank."
"Everybody couldn't have been nicer," said Harbaugh, who added that the team demonstrated "good concentration and very good work" during the week of preparation to face the Jets.
It will be interesting to see if the 49ers continue staying at Youngstown State in the future whenever they play back-to-back games on the other side of the country. It certainly cuts down on the amount of travel, and staying on east coast time is much easier on the body than adjusting to it overnight.
