Rex Ryan was hoping the 49ers would go back to San Francisco after Week 3

The San Francisco 49ers are spending the week in Ohio to help deal with the East Coast time difference. They'll play the Jets in Week 4.

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for Week 4 a bit differently than they normally do. With the team set to take on the New York Jets on Sunday morning – kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET but 10 a.m. locally in San Francisco – the coaching staff has elected for the team to spend the week in Ohio. This not only cuts down the amount of travel the 49ers will have to do, but also allows their bodies to adjust to Eastern Standard Time.

Rex Ryan, the Jets' veteran head coach, was hoping the 49ers would have flown all the way home after Week 3. Here is an audio recording to Ryan's interview, courtesy of CSN Bay Area:

The 49ers came out slow against the Minnesota Vikings and it likely cost them the game. With the players adjusted to the time change and knowing they simply cannot show up on Sunday and expect to win, you have to think Coach Jim Harbaugh will have his guys ready. If the Niners do play well this week, could more West Coast teams start employing a similar strategy for East Coast games? It sure seems like a solid plan.
