NFL schedule 2012: 49ers fight for playoff positioning against Cardinals

The NFL wraps up its 2012 regular season schedule on Sunday with plenty of playoff positioning left to be decided.

Stephen Brashear

The San Francisco 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals with plenty at stake on Sunday as part of Week 17 of the 2012 NFL schedule. The Niners can clinch the NFC West with a win, and still have a shot at a first-round bye. San Francisco can also drop to as far as the No. 5 seed and be left without a home game in the opening round of the playoffs should it lose.

The Raiders head south to San Diego to face the Chargers with little more than draft position on the line. Oakland is one of seven different teams that have either four or five wins heading into the final week of the season, so plenty can change in terms of draft order in the finale.

Only one seed in the NFC is set in stone, with the Atlanta Falcons clinching home field advantage last week. The Niners will be especially be interested in two games on Sunday. The Packers visit the Vikings, and Green Bay can clinch a first-round bye with a win. Seattle hosts St. Louis, and would take the NFC West with a win and San Francisco loss.
