The San Francisco 49ers will play the New England Patriots on Sunday and while Jim Harbaugh doesn't have a huge history with Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Harbaugh recalled one of the last times they spoke.
Harbaugh was coaching at Stanford at the time and while sitting in Bill Walsh's office, he received a call from Belichick. Belichick was calling to discuss a few Stanford players eligible for the upcoming draft, but the two ended up talking for a while. Harbaugh said Belichick wished him and Stanford luck, while also talking about their families.
The fact Belichick called while Harbaugh was in Walsh's office shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Harbaugh said he used to spend as much time as possible around the former Stanford and 49er coach. Harbaugh said he would often sit in Walsh's office trying to pick up as much as he could.
While Harbaugh and Belichick faced each other when Harbaugh was a player, Sunday's game will be their first head-to-head meeting as coaches.
