49ers vs. Saints injury report: Alex Smith in non-contact jersey again, limited Wednesday

The concussed signal caller is practicing on a limited basis once again, but his status for the game against the Saints, and whether he would start if he were ready to suit up, is unknown.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith was limited in Wednesday's practice as the team prepares for its Week 11 game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Louisiana Superdome.

Smith was barely missed in the last game, as backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick thrived in a 32-7 rout against the Chicago Bears at The Stick on Monday night. After practicing on a limited basis throughout the week in preparation for that game, Smith appears on track to be cleared for Sunday's game. Whether he plays if healthy remains to be seen, as head coach Jim Harbaugh was noncommittal on his choice of quarterback moving forward.

No Niners players missed practice, but cornerback Chris Culliver (shoulder), cornerback Tarell Brown and safety Dashon Goldson (ribs, calf) each participated in a limited capacity along with Smith.

Wide receiver Randy Moss (finger), running back Frank Gore (ribs, wrist), linebacker Aldon Smith (shoulder), defensive tackle Will Tukuafu (wrist), linebacker Patrick Willis (shoulder) and safety C.J. Spillman (finger) were all listed on the report, but practiced in full.
