Following the first quarter of play, the San Francisco 49ers find themselves in a surprising 14-0 hole at home against the St. Louis Rams.
The Rams have scored on both of their possessions against San Francisco's usually stout defense. The 49ers went three-and-out in their opening drive, which St. Louis followed up with a six play, 66 yard drive culminating in a 36 yard touchdown pass from Sam Bradford to wide receiver Brian Quick.
San Francisco advanced into St. Louis territory on their next possession but once again was forced to punt. The Rams responded by marching 93 yards in seven plays and scoring again on a seven yard touchdown run by Steven Jackson.
Bradford is a perfect 4-of-4 for 73 yards and a touchdown, while Alex Smith is 3-of-4 for 22 yards. No receiver has more than one reception for the 49ers, who have been outgained by San Francisco in total offense, 149 to 53 yards.
