NFC West standings update, Week 9

The San Francisco 49ers hold a comfortable lead over their foes in the NFC West.

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

The San Francisco 49ers now hold a comfortable two-game lead over the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West division after eight weeks of play.

The 49ers, who are currently on their bye week, are 6-2 this season. The Seahawks have been up and down all year, and they come in with a 4-4 record. The Cardinals began the year with four straight wins, although they've now dropped their last four contests and look like a franchise going in the wrong direction. The St. Louis Rams are in last place with just three wins and five losses.

As for the rest of the NFC, the 49ers are currently tied with the New York Giants for the third-best record. San Francisco was blown out by New York earlier in the year. The Falcons are the NFL's lone undefeated team with a record of 7-0. The Chicago Bears are 6-1. Those two teams currently stand to receive a bye during the first round of the playoffs.
