Frank Gore injury: 49ers RB has bruised ribs

After an injury forced 49ers running back Frank Gore out of a Week 7 game against the Seahawks on Thursday night, X-rays showed that the three-time All-Pro has bruised ribs.

Gore accumulated 131 yards rushing on 16 carries Thursday night and added 51 receiving yards on five receptions. He left the game in the fourth quarter, however, with what appeared to be an injury to his back that stemmed from a hit he took in the second quarter. Gore stayed in the game until the final minutes of the second half and left when the 49ers were attempting to run out the remainder of the clock.

Following the game he downplayed the injury, telling Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee that 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was just being conservative. "I'll be alright. Coach wants me to be smart," Gore said about leaving the game at the end. "We've got a long season, a tough road down the stretch."

Since being drafted in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft, Gore has started in 93 games and played in 107 and is less than 500 yards rushing from becoming the all-time rushing leader in 49ers franchise history.
