The San Francisco 49ers welcome in the Seattle Seahawks for this week's edition of Thursday Night Football. The two teams were the favorites to finish at the top of the NFC West in the preseason and both have lived up to expectations thus far, posting records of 4-2.
The 49ers are led by one of the league's best defenses, although they were lit up for 26 points in Week 6. Alex Smith has seemingly improved this season, but a busted middle finger on his non-throwing hand appeared to both him throughout Sunday's game. Look for Frank Gore to be used early and often against a tough Seattle front-seven.
The Seahawks are coming off an emotional win over the Patriots last weekend. Given their short turnaround, it will be interesting to see how rookie quarterback Russell Wilson handles his first trip to the Bay. Seattle ranks 31st in the league in terms of pass yards per game, meaning we'll likely see tailback Marshawn Lynch be given the ball early and often.
