The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants each had chances to put points on the board late in the first half, but neither converted so the Giants head into the half with a 10-3 lead after a strong second quarter.
The 49ers led 3-0 after the first quarter, but the Giants grabbed the lad back on a six-yard touchdown pass to Victor Cruz. On their next drive, the Giants drove down the field again and this time capped it with a 34-yard Lawrence Tynes to extend their lead to 10-3.
It looked like New York would add to that lead on their final drive of the half, but Tynes had a field goal blocked. That should have ended the half, but a 36-yard pass put San Francisco in field goal range and set up a last second attempt by David Akers. Unfortunately for the Niners, he missed his second field goal of the day.
Both the Giants and 49ers have had their struggles and successes on both sides of the ball. At the half, they are pretty even with New York racking up 199 yards of offense and the 49ers 173 yards.
