Week 7 Fantasy Football Studs and Duds: Both Bay Area teams win, but only one man proves his worth

The Raiders and Niners both eked out wins over their opponents this week, but only one player for either team showed that he is a fantasy stud.

This week, there was cause for celebration amongst Bay Area football fans (unless you love the Cal Bears) as both the Raiders and Niners came out on the winning end of very difficult games. The Niners won a 13-6 defensive struggle against Seattle while the Raiders came back from a 14-point deficit to win in overtime against Jacksonville. There were a lot of players in both games who might have been considered for fantasy purposes, but only one who stood head and shoulders above the rest.

STUD: Carson Palmer. He threw for nearly 300 yards on the day, with a passing TD and an interception. The reason his day was so good is his rushing touchdown, which is worth six points. He willed his team to victory even after struggling early and making some mistakes. With the Raiders being down early and Darren McFadden unable to rush very effectively, the game was put in Palmer's hands and he did not disappoint. He put the team on his back and did what was necessary. His day, which is around the 20 point mark in most standard leagues, wasn't anything close to an Aaron Rodgers or Matt Schaub line but for the Raiders and Niners this week he was the only guy worth starting.

And now the guys who disappointed..

DUDS: Everyone else. Alex Smith wasn't worth starting, nor was Frank Gore or Vernon Davis. Darren McFadden couldn't get anything going because the Raiders had to abandon the run. Denarius Moore caught a touchdown but only managed 36 receiving yards. Darrius Heyward-Bey had 85 receiving yards but did not score. It was a difficult week for most players on both teams.
