Super Bowl XLVII: 49ers didn't enjoy Super Bowl after-party

San Francisco threw a Super Bowl after-party and as you may expect, the mood wasn't exactly jovial.

Following their 34-31 loss in Super Bowl XLVII, some 49ers attended the team's Super Bowl after-party. It may seem odd for the losing team to host a Super Bowl party, but it's actually not uncommon. However, like you'd expect, not many 49ers were enjoying themselves.

Teams plan Super Bowl parties well in advance of the game so if they win the players and staff and their families can celebrate the victory. However, when a team loses the party still goes on, albeit with a much less jovial atmosphere. Left tackle Joe Staley was one of the players who attended the party and he said while the players tried to get over the loss, the vibe of the event was down.

In addition to being around their teammates, the after-party also gave players a chance to eat after the long game. That was one of the reasons Staley decided to attend.

"Everybody was like, 'This would've been really cool if we won," Staley said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "But I mean, they threw it up, and I was really hungry and they had a lot of food there.

Not all players decided to attend, as defensive end Ricky Jean-Francois said he was not in the mood to attend a party and instead spent some time with his family.
