The San Francisco 49ers returned to practice on Wednesday, and are treating the week like any other game week. They'll practice for the next two days and head to New Orleans on Sunday afternoon, and it's likely they'll treat the following week in much the same manner.
The team released their practice participation report on Wednesday, and there is one big name of note: outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks. Brooks did not participate due to a shoulder injury, along with third tight end Garrett Celek.
Brooks left the NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons early on, but returned and played a big part in the second half. He had two passes batted down and was getting consistent pressure on Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan. In short, it would be bad if Brooks were hurt for an extended period of time.
Fortunately, it does seem likely that the 49ers are just giving Brooks some rest to ensure no setbacks with the shoulder injury. With the two-week span between the championship games and the Super Bowl, they can afford to give Brooks some extra rehab time.
Here's the full participation report from Wednesday, via Niners Nation.
Did not participate: LB Ahmad Brooks (shoulder), TE Garrett Celek (foot)
Limited participation: CB Tarell Brown (shoulder), FB Bruce Miller (shoulder), LB Aldon Smith (shoulder)
