The San Francisco 49ers are going to the Super Bowl, where they'll take on the Baltimore Ravens. But for 30 teams in the NFL, free agency and the 2013 NFL Draft highlight the offseason. Teams are gearing up for a big draft, and while the 49ers haven't gotten all wheels spinning in that direction, there's still plenty to talk about.
And of course, they'll still be included in mock drafts. As the higher seed of the two Super Bowl teams, you'll find them picking at No. 32 in all mocks.
Matthew Fairburn of SB Nation released his latest mock draft on Monday, and he has the 49ers taking Logan Ryan, cornerback out of Rutgers.
If the 49ers have a weakness, it is in the secondary. Logan Ryan is an impressive athlete who is a bit rough around the edges as a prospect. Ryan's an aggressive player who would fit the mold of what San Francisco does on defense. He has a chance to land in the first round.
Their secondary definitely needs some work. They've got two Pro Bowl safeties in Donte Whitner and Dashon Goldson, but the former is getting up there in age. As far as cornerbacks go, they almost cost the 49ers their NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons. They were absolutely abused by Atlanta's group of receivers.
The team likes young corner Chris Culliver and hopes he will be part of their starting lineup for awhile, but Carlos Rogers is getting up there in age and Tarell Brown is very inconsistent. If it's not a reach, cornerback makes sense at No. 32 for sure.
