NFC Championship game 2013: Game preview, kickoff time, TV schedule and more

The San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons will face off in the NFC Championship on Sunday.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers will play in their second consecutive NFC Championship game, and they're hoping this one goes … a bit better than the last. They'll take on the Atlanta Falcons, and they're the favorites to win. That's despite Atlanta being the No. 1 seed, which means the 49ers are playing the game on the road.

San Francisco dominated the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round, with Colin Kaepernick running wild for almost 200 yards on the ground and accounting for four touchdowns (two rushing, two passing). The 49ers will try to keep him rolling against the Atlanta defense.

The big storylines revolve around two injured defensive ends: Justin Smith for San Francisco, and John Abraham for Atlanta. Smith, dealing with injuries to his arm and shoulder, wore a brace in the divisional round and is expected to be able to play, but any setback could be devastating. Abraham entered the divisional round with an ankle injury and re-tweaked it just before the second half, missing the rest of the game.

Both players practiced on Wednesday. Either way, here's a look at how you can watch the game:

Game Time: 3 p.m. ET, Jan. 20, 2013

Location: Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Ga.

TV Schedule: FOX

Odds: San Francisco is favored by as much as five points
