SB Nation's Mocking The Draft released their latest mock draft on Monday morning. In it, they have the Oakland Raiders selecting Florida State DE Bjoern Werner third overall. This is a change from the last mock draft, which had Oakland taking DE Damontre Moore out of Texas A&M, but here's Dan Kadar's reasoning:
What exactly is the point of building several mock drafts in January? Part of it is an exercise in variety to figure out where some players can fall...There is a distinct difference in the two. Moore is much more of a quick-twitch pass rusher who can get off the line in a hurry. Werner is a technician that can impact more areas of the game.
Pass rush was one of the Raiders' biggest weaknesses in 2012, ranking 31st in the league with a paltry 25 sacks. A dynamic playmaker like Werner or Moore would go a long way towards fixing that problem.
Utah NT Star Lotulelei is another possibility at the No. 3 spot, as well as a QB depending on how the pre-draft scouting process shakes out. The Raiders have a lot of options here.
