The San Francisco 49ers are favored by four points as they head to New York to face the Jets on Sunday, according to OddsShark. The over/under for the contest has been set at 40.5 points. Both the 49ers and the Jets enter the matchup at 2-1 on the season, with the Jets coming off of a 23-20 victory over Miami and the 49ers having lost to the Vikings 24-13.
The Jets will be without their best defensive player on Sunday, with cornerback Darrelle Revis on the shelf for the Jets' defense after tearing his ACL last week. Alex Smith and the Niners' offense looked very good in each of their first two games of the year, and the prospect of that offense facing a Revis-less Jets defense has many fans leaning toward the over. Antonio Cromartie and Kyle Wilson will be asked to pick up the slack in the Jets secondary on Sunday.
San Francisco had some good news to report on the injury front, as Patrick Willis was able to participate in practice on Wednesday, with both Brandon Jacobs and Ted Ginn also able to take part.
The forecast for the New York area on Sunday calls for temperatures in the mid-60s with a 50 percent chance of rain.
The betting lines for Sunday's tilt in New York are as follows:
San Francisco 49ers: -4
New York Jets: +4
O/U: 40.5
