The San Francisco Giants took care of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second of a three-game series on Wednesday night at AT&T Park, winning 6-0. Matt Cain was the winning pitcher, allowing only four hits and striking out six over seven innings. Cain was also perfect from the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Cain got the Giants going in the bottom of the third inning, leading off with a single off Wade Miley. Angel Pagan walked, Marco Scutaro advanced both runners into scoring position, Pablo Sandoval drove Cain home with an infield single, and Buster Posey drove in his 100th run of the season with a hit to shallow left to make it 2-0.
Cain singled in a run in the bottom of the fifth that scored Hunter Pence, who reached on a throwing error and advanced into scoring position thanks to a single by Belt and a ground out by Crawford. Scutaro doubled in the bottom of the eighth and came home thanks to two wild pitches.
The Giants wrap up their series Thursday with Barry Zito on the mound.
