The Oakland Raiders decided that covering against the Pittsburgh Steelers wasn't enough. They decided to win the football game too by a final score of 34-31. And for once it was the Raiders defense getting the best of the Steelers.
Pittsburgh came into the weekend favored from 3.5 to 4.5 points depending on where you looked, and they looked like a solid bet based on the way the Raiders had played during the season. But Oakland's defense played opportunistic and forced some crucial turnovers that stopped Pittsburgh drives and set up much needed Oregon scores. They got some crucial drives from Carson Palmer in the 4th quarter. Darren McFadden and the Oakland running game got set up early. And it was Sebastian Janikowski kicking two game-tying and game-winning field goals in the fourth quarter to set up the victory.
So the Raiders covered on Sunday in the Coliseum. But they also took the money line straight up too.
