As they kick off their last home series of the regular season on Friday, the San Francisco Giants are just four games from wrapping up the NL West title. With a 10 game lead over the Dodgers the Giants could win the division as early as Saturday, but the San Diego Padres are hoping to play spoiler this weekend.
Ryan Vogelsong (12-9, 3.65 ERA) is looking to end his recent slide as he owns a 10.31 ERA over his last seven starts after posting an NL-best 2.27 ERA in his first 21 starts of the season. He lasted just 3.1 innings in his last outing, giving up seven runs before getting pulled. Opponents are batting .360 against him in his last four starts.
San Diego will counter with Casey Kelly (2-1, 5.85), who earned his second win in a Padres uniform in his last start after tossing six innings of two-run ball against the Rockies.
The Giants have won eight of the last 12 against San Diego, including four of six at home.
