The 2012 Tour Championship will have two of the golfers with the best possible chance to win the FedEx Cup. Tiger Woods is currently 2nd in the FedEx Cup standings, and Nick Watney is in third. Both of them have a long way to go to catch up with Rory McIlroy; they're probably going to have to win the whole thing to get the victory considering McIlroy's preeminent status.
McIlroy is in good shape to win the FedEx Cup with a top five finish if a golfer that currently isn't situated in the top 5 doesn't win the Tour Championship out right this week. If he doesn't and falls short, that opens up the door for golfers like Woods and Watney. Woods can probably win with a top-3 winning and a poor showing from McIlroy, while Watney can probably afford second place and bad performances from McIlroy and Woods this weekend.
