San Jose State LB Wins Honors After Spartans Victory

San Jose State's Vince Buhagiar has taken home WAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the Spartans' 40-20 victory over the Colorado State Rams on Saturday. Buhagiar is the second-straight Spartan to win the award, after defensive end Travis Johnson was honored last week, according to MercuryNews.com.

The junior linebacker, Buhagiar, recorded 11 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble against the Rams.

The win moved the Spartans to 2-1 on the season, with their only loss coming to Stanford. San Jose State will try to continue their defensive success against a second-straight Mountain West Conference opponent, San Diego State, on Saturday.

The Aztecs will provide a challenge, as they've scored 91 points combined in their last two games, both wins. The two teams will meet at 5 p.m. PT at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif.
