Sharks Assign 16 Players To Worcester

With the NHL lockout not showing any signs of ending, teams are sending their players down to the American Hockey League in preparation for a prolonging of the situation. The San Jose Sharks are doing likewise, sending 16 players over to their AHL team in Worcester. Here's the list of names. Kevin Kurz, the Sharks Insider for CSN Bay Area, has the full report.

  • Forwards Curt Gogol, Freddie Hamilton, Bracken Kearns, James Livingston, Jon Matsumoto, Travis Oleksuk, Brodie Reid, Sebastian Stalberg are all headed over.
  • Defensemen Sena Acolatse, Taylor Doherty, Danny Groulx, Matt Irwin, and Matt Tennyson also will take up a good number of the spots.
  • Finally, there will be goaltenders Thomas Heemskerk, Harri Sateri, and Alex Stalock.

These players sent down will make up the bulk of San Jose's AHL regional roster. Most of these players would participate in Sharks training camp if the lockout is resolved, but it's starting to look as if there won't be enough time.
