Some Sharks Players Would Play In Europe If Locked Out

With a potential NHL lockout looming, a few San Jose Sharks players are entertaining the idea of playing in Europe this season.

"You want to play games. You train all summer, and that's what you work for," said defenseman Justin Braun, according to CSN Bay Area.

Several players said they would consider playing in Europe if the lockout begins to drag into the NHL regular season. That includes 23-year-old Logan Couture, who tied for the team lead with 31 goals last season.

"Yeah, I think so, if it's a long time," Couture said about the possibility of playing in Europe. "Everyone wants to play. We'd have to look at other options if it goes for awhile, so we'll see when the time comes. We don't know how long or even if it's going to happen right now."

Couture and the other players all said their first priority is to play in the NHL this season. The lockout would begin Saturday at 9:00 p.m. PT if no deal is reached before.
