Deutsche Bank Championship 2012: McIlroy Takes Lead, Woods Tees Off

On the course early Sauturday, Rory McIlroy has made a move up the 2012 Deutsche Bank Championship leaderboard. McIlroy posted his second cosecutive day of 6-under, 65, putting him in first place at 12-under for the championship. The reigning PGA Champion, McIlroy has a two stroke lead on second-place Ryan Moore who was three-under for the day.

American Jason Dufner was five-under on Saturday, moving him up to a tie for third with Seung-yul Noh at 9-under for the tournament.

Tiger Woods shot seven-under on Friday and birdied his first hole on Saturday to put him in a tie for sixth through one hole of the second round. Phil Mickelson turned in another three-under, 68 for his second round to move him to 6-under for the tournament.

Stockton native Ricky Barnes is now 2-over both on the day and for the tournament. Former Cal Bear Charlie Wi is 1-over through four holes of his second round. Sacramento's Nick Watney, who also attended Fresno State, birdied his first hole of the day to put him at par for the championship. Another Sacramento native Spencer Levin withdrew after shooting an 80 on Friday.

The projected cut is currently at +1. Some notable names hovering around that number are Ricky Fowler (1-over), Rory Sabbatini (4-over), Matt Kuchar (2-over), Vijay Singh (3-over), K.J. Choi (3-over), Graeme McDowell (4-over) and Bubba Watson (4-over).
