49ers vs. Vikings: Michael Crabtree To Start First Preseason Game

No one has ever questioned Michael Crabtree's ability on a football field when he's healthy. Unfortunately for the San Francisco 49ers over the years, that hasn't always been the case and they're yet to see just how good their wide receiver can be over the course of a long season.

After missing all of last year's preseason camp with a foot injury, Crabtree is healthy and ready to go this time around. According to this report from CSN Bay Area, Crabtree will be a starter at wideout on Friday night as the Vikings come to town.

"The starting receivers will be Ted Ginn and Michael Crabtree," 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said Thursday.

Coach Harbaugh also said Randy Moss will see some time on the field, as will Kyle Williams.

It seems unlikely that Crabtree will play more than a series or two with it only being the first preseason game, but it'll be good for the 49ers to see their young receiver healthy and out on the field. If he becomes the player he is capable of being, you really have to like San Francisco's chances in 2012.

Kickoff from Candlestick Park is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT on Friday.
