2012 PGA Championship, Leaderboard Update: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, John Daly Off To Hot Starts

The threat of a thunderstorm has stayed away at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island during the first round of play at the 2012 PGA Championship, with the field currently chasing Dutch professional Joost Luiten at the moment. But names like Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and even John Daly have set themselves up nicely for the rest of the week.

McIlroy carded a bogey-free 67 to find himself 5-under for the tournament, tied along with Gary Williams and Swede Carl Petterson. Carmel native John Daly carded a 4-under 68, while Tiger Woods finished at 3-under 69 for his first round. His three bogies on the day hurt him greatly as he could have had a great start to his tournament instead of just a good one.

But the story at Kiawah Island so far is Joost Luiten, who is on-fire at the Ocean Course at the moment, sitting at 8-under through 14 holes on Thursday. He's carded six birdies and an eagle on his round so far, taking a sizable lead into Friday if he can hang on.
