Olympics 2012: Preview, Start Times, Event Schedule And More

Team USA won a total of 43 medals in the first week of competition in London, and Saturday will mark the start of week two. A great showing in gymnastics, swimming and other events have propelled the US to the top of the medal leaderboard, slightly edging China for the No. 1 spot.

Here is the schedule for the main events on Saturday.

Team USA basketball will take on Lithuania in a game they will be the heavy favorites once again. Lithuania will provide a bigger challenge than Nigeria -- a team the US beat by 80+ on Thursday -- but that has not stopped the oddsmakers from anointing Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and co. as 34.5-point favorites.

There are four gold medals up for grabs in swimming. At 11:30 a.m. PST, the women's 50m freestyle will begin. This race will be followed by the men's 1500m freestyle at 11:36. After a brief delay the women's 4x100m IM is scheduled to start at 12:06 p.m. The final race of the day is the men's 4x100m IM, and that's set for 12:27.

Track & Field events began on Friday, and Saturday will feature competition throughout the day. The main events will be the men's long jump and 10,000m final. The female athletes who qualified yesterday will compete for medals in the discus throw and 100m dash.
